Frequently
Asked Questions

What is a free walking tour?

A free walking tour is indeed a free tour that you do by walking around the city. This concept allows you to have a local guide, and in our case a portuguese guide, that will tell you about the history and wonders of Lisbon while doing a walk itinerary. At the end of the tour you will tip according to what you feel the tour was worth.

How does it work?

While navigating through our website, please select the tour that you feel is more suitable for you. Book the tour by filling in the boxes with your information and how many you are. When that is done you will automatically receive an email with the confirmation. What ‘s next? We will see you at the meeting point and hope we can make your day.

Is it really for free?

It is really for free! To make the reservation and to attend the tour, it is all for free. When the tour gets to its end, feel free to tip the guide accordingly to what you think it was worth.

Where do I meet the Guide?

You will meet the guide at the meeting point. Once you make the booking or reservation, you will receive from us a confirmation email that will include a google link of the meeting point location

How do I book a tour?

Very easy, just go to our website, choose the tour you wish to attend and click on the button book now. After clicking you will get a page with boxes to fill with your information. At the end of the reservation you will receive an email from us with the confirmation.

Can I book a tour for my friends as well?

Absolutely! When you book with us, we’ll ask you to let us know how many people are in your party – it can be just you and one other person, or more. However, if your group is larger than 5 people, we recommend booking a private tour. Alternatively, you can join our regular tour and pay a minimum of 10€ per person when you meet your guide.

What language is used during the tour?

We are a free walking tour company that only does tours in english.

Is the Guide local?

All guides that work with us are portuguese guides. We felt the need to positively discriminate so that each of them can add a little bit of their personal experience and share it with you.

What is the difference between a general free walking tour and a private tour?

Our general free walking tour is a great way to explore a specific area of Lisbon, typically with a group of at least 6 people. There’s no upfront payment required – it’s a tip-based tour, so you can tip according to your experience.

If you’re looking for a more private experience, we offer paid private tours where you’ll have the guide all to yourself. Whether you’re traveling solo, with a loved one, or a big group of friends, a private tour is a great option. It’s perfect if you prefer not to be bothered by other clients during your tour.

What is a private tour?

A private tour is a paid tour that allows you more privacy since you will be the only one on this tour. You can do it by yourself, with your loved one or even with a big group of friends. If you wish not to be bothered by other clients, we highly recommend a private tour.

How can I join a free tour? Do I need to make a reservation?

Please book your tour online. It helps our team to be prepared for your arrival and to make sure everyone has a great time

Do you have a tour every day?

Usually we have tours everyday, when booking you will see the availability of each tour.

Where is the meeting point?

Meeting point is described in the website according to the tour you select. There is also a map that will help you locate the meeting point. When booking with us, you will receive a confirmation email that will also have the location for your convenience.

How much does it cost?

Making a reservation and attending our tour is completely free of charge. At the end of the tour, we encourage you to tip your guide according to your experience in a conscious and responsible manner.

How does the guide make money?

Our guides earn their income through the tips they receive from guests like you. They’re typically young people with degrees and masters who have recently finished their academic studies. They enjoy the freedom that this profession offers and strive to provide you with an unforgettable experience in the hopes of earning the best tip possible.

Are the tours accessible for disabled people or people in wheelchairs?

Lisbon is well known for being the city of 7 hills, therefore accessibility is not its strongest suit. We ask you to contact us and we can assess, according to the specific disability, if it is possible to join or not.

How far will we walk?

Most of our tours have a duration of 2h30 duration. However, you will also have many stops along the way that will make the journey easier. It is a nice and easy walk, suitable for senior or young children.

If you have any restrictions or health issues do not hesitate to inform the guide.

Is there a bathroom break during the tour?

Usually there is no bathroom break scheduled in the guide’s itinerary, however feel free to let the guide know that you need it and they will stop accordingly.

Do you do free tours in any other language than english?

We are very much focused on doing them in english. We want to create the best tour possible and so we use the language that we feel more comfortable with.

What if only a few people show up? Will you still do the tour?

Usually people show up when they book with us, however there are always some that don’t. Not a problem, we are prepared for those occasions. Show must go on.

What if it rains? Will you still do the tour?

This is a very sunny city so no need to worry about bad weather. However, the few times it does rain we leave it up to the clients. If they are not bothered we carry on our amazing journey and tour around Lisbon to show you what we know best.

How much should I tip?

At our company, we have a policy of not influencing your decision on tipping – we believe that you should tip what you think the tour was worth. However, we’re happy to provide you with some helpful information about the costs of things in Lisbon. For example, a beer typically costs around 3 euros or more, while a glass of wine is usually no less than 5 euros. If you’re looking for a normal lunch in town, you can expect to pay around 25 euros, but if you’re interested in a fancy dinner, you’ll likely spend around 50 euros or more per person. We understand that rents in Lisbon can be a bit outrageous at the moment, so we hope this information is helpful to you.
